Hi, I’m Jon Hinds, owner of The Veranda at Lake Martin. I genuinely enjoy spending time with the older generation and believe they deserve respect, compassion, and meaningful relationships as they age. One of the most rewarding parts of this work is helping local families keep their loved ones close to home—near the Dadeville and Lake Martin communities they know and love.
That belief shapes how we operate every day. I care deeply about both our residents and our team, and I believe that when you take good care of employees, they take great care of residents. The result is a warm, welcoming community where familiar caregivers, lasting relationships, and thoughtful support help residents feel truly at home.

Hi, I’m Crystal Tucker, Administrator & House Manager at The Veranda. I’ve been part of this community for more than 11 years, and though I originally planned to become a nurse, found that assisted living was the perfect fit for my caring heart. The relationships I’ve built with residents and families over the years have made this work incredibly meaningful and continue to give back to me every day.
As the primary contact for tours, information, and resident care, I have the privilege of getting to know our residents personally. In fact, both of my own parents lived at The Veranda for more than two years, so I can genuinely say I would trust this community with the people I love most. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and show you what makes The Veranda so special.
The Veranda is best suited for seniors who benefit from assistance with daily living, medication support, mobility assistance, and a structured, supportive environment. While our caregivers have experience supporting residents with mild cognitive decline and changing care needs, The Veranda would not be a good fit for residents with advanced dementia or highly complex medical needs.
Families often choose The Veranda because of our personal, relationship-focused approach to care. Our smaller community allows residents to be truly known by caregivers and leadership, creating a calmer environment with familiar routines, consistent support, and meaningful daily connections. For many seniors, a quieter, more comfortable setting also makes the transition into assisted living feel easier and far less overwhelming than moving into a large, busy facility.
Our caregivers receive ongoing training through Care Academy and specialized senior care education programs that cover resident safety, medication assistance, daily living support, dementia-related behaviors, and emergency response. All employees—including housekeeping staff—complete dementia training, CPR certification, and instruction tailored specifically to senior care. New team members also receive extensive onboarding before working independently with residents.
Just as importantly, we hire for compassion, patience, and character. Many of our caregivers have been with The Veranda for years, allowing them to build meaningful relationships with residents and families while providing the consistent, attentive care that helps residents feel comfortable, understood, and well supported each day.
We aim to keep pricing simple to understand. You start with a base monthly rate tied to the room you select, which covers home-cooked meals, housekeeping, laundry, activities, and utilities. From there, added support like medication management or help with daily routines is priced based on your loved one's care needs. Because that support is personal to each resident, the full cost of care is confirmed through a care assessment, which most families complete when they're ready to visit for a tour.
